The Theater Phönix is one of the most important independent stages for contemporary drama in Linz. Known for an engaged, present-day programme, it presents above all modern drama, world premieres and Austrian premieres, frequently taking up socially relevant themes. With its ensemble and its openness to new plays and young authors, the Phönix sees itself as a lively counterpart to the large Landestheater. Located in the Upper Austrian capital, it has established itself as a fixture of the independent theatre scene and won a loyal, curious audience.
