The Musiktheater am Volksgarten is the modern opera house of Linz and one of Europe's youngest major opera stages. Opened in 2013 to designs by the British architect Terry Pawson, it is considered one of the most technically advanced theatres on the continent. As the main venue for the music theatre of the Landestheater Linz, the large auditorium offers outstanding acoustics and sightlines and hosts opera, operetta, musical and ballet. With its clear, elegant architecture and superb stage technology, the house has made the Upper Austrian capital a serious opera destination and draws audiences from across the region.
