The Stadttheater Klagenfurt is the great multi-genre house of Carinthia and one of the most beautiful theatre buildings in Austria. The magnificent Art Nouveau house opened in 1910 to designs by the famous theatre architects Fellner & Helmer, who created numerous houses across the Habsburg monarchy. On its stage the theatre unites opera, operetta, musical, drama and ballet, supplying the whole region with a broad artistic offering. Set in the centre of the Carinthian capital near Lake Wörthersee, the Stadttheater is the city's cultural landmark and a significant point of reference for the music and theatre life of southern Austria.
