The Schubertiade in Vorarlberg is regarded as one of the world's most important festivals for the song and chamber music of Franz Schubert. Founded in 1976, it takes place mainly in the idyllic Bregenzerwald villages of Schwarzenberg and Hohenems, far from big-city bustle. At its centre are song recitals and chamber concerts with the world's most outstanding singers and instrumentalists, who cultivate Schubert's work and related repertoire here in an intimate setting. The unique combination of the highest artistic quality, intimate atmosphere and the beauty of the Vorarlberg landscape makes the Schubertiade a place of pilgrimage for lovers of art song.
