The Neues Theater Höchst is the leading small-stage venue in the west of Frankfurt, housed in a former cinema auditorium on Emmerich-Josef-Straße in the Höchst district; the floor above holds the Filmforum Höchst. The house specialises in cabaret and variety arts in all their forms: cabaret, comedy, music, readings and exhibitions. For many artists it is their home base in the Rhine-Main area – names such as Volker Pispers, Gerd Dudenhöffer, Badesalz and the Missfits appeared here when they were still unknown beyond the region. Twice a year the curtain rises for three weeks for the house's own variety show with national and international performers. It is run by the Bund für Volksbildung Frankfurt-Höchst.
