The Fritz Rémond Theater im Zoo is a Frankfurt private theatre with perhaps the most unusual address in the city — it is located directly on the grounds of Frankfurt Zoo. Since 1947 the house has cultivated an entertaining repertoire of boulevard comedies and crime plays with prominent guest performers from film and television. It is named after the actor and director Fritz Rémond, who shaped the theatre for decades. The location in the zoo is more than a curiosity: during intermissions the audience sometimes hears the animals of the neighbouring enclosures, a theatrical setting unlike any other in Germany. The intimate house with its loyal regular audience is among the most charming private stages in Frankfurt.
Some regulars combine the theatre visit with a zoo walk on the same evening — combined tickets for the animal park and the stage are part of the concept.
