The Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt's Ostend is one of Germany's most important independent production houses and internationally highly regarded. Opened in 1988 in a striking former factory tower of the Mouson soap and cosmetics works, it was one of the first houses of its kind in the country. The programme spans contemporary dance, performance, independent theatre, music, discourse and festivals; national and international ensembles and artists are invited for guest performances, while the house also provides a platform for the local independent scene and emerging talent. As a production and touring venue, the Mousonturm decisively shapes the contemporary arts in Frankfurt.
