Festspiele Reichenau

The Festspiele Reichenau rank among the most important theatre festivals in Austria and take place each summer in Reichenau an der Rax, a summer retreat at the foot of the pre-Alps once cherished by Viennese society. The focus is on classical and modern spoken drama, with a particular emphasis on stage adaptations of great literary works – for instance by Arthur Schnitzler, whose work is closely tied to the region.
