The Wiener Kammeroper is an intimate opera house in Vienna's first district and has long been a place for opera on a small scale. The historic house on the Fleischmarkt seats only a few hundred, enabling an exceptionally close operatic experience. Since 2012 it has been run by the Theater an der Wien and serves as the stage of the Young Ensemble, where outstanding emerging singers take on their first major roles. The repertoire ranges from Baroque rarities through Mozart to contemporary music theatre. As a talent forge and a venue eager to experiment, the Kammeroper complements Vienna's grand opera landscape in its own unmistakable way.
