Tulsa Opera, founded in 1948, is among the oldest continuously operating opera companies in the United States and a central cultural institution of the state of Oklahoma. It performs in the Tulsa Performing Arts Center (Chapman Music Hall) in the heart of the city. Over the decades the company drew many internationally sought-after singers to Tulsa and built a reputation reaching well beyond the region. Today Tulsa Opera combines grand repertoire with occasional contemporary works and a strong commitment to education and the cultivation of young talent.
