The Theater im Bahnhof – TiB for short – is the best-known independent theatre company in Styria and one of the most distinctive in Austria. Since the 1990s the Graz collective has developed an independent theatre based on improvisation, documentary methods and direct engagement with the lived reality of its audience. With wit, quick repartee and an unmistakably local tone, the ensemble creates productions that range between slapstick and social sharpness. The TiB plays its own and changing venues in Graz and is regarded as a creative engine of the independent scene. It lastingly shapes the city's contemporary theatre.
