The Theater der Jugend in Vienna is one of the largest youth-theatre organisations in Europe and has been devoted exclusively to young audiences since 1932. It runs two houses of its own – the Renaissancetheater and the Theater im Zentrum – and reaches hundreds of thousands of pupils each year through its subscriptions. The programme ranges from classics of world literature through contemporary material to plays developed specially for children and young people. With professional, high-quality productions, the house introduces young people to the art of the stage and shapes generations of theatregoers. It is an institution of cultural education in Austria.
