The Mann Center for the Performing Arts is Philadelphia's great open-air stage, set in the sprawling Fairmount Park. Opened in 1976 – originally Robin Hood Dell West and later named after the patron Fredric R. Mann – the amphitheatre seats around 13,000 under the open sky on covered seats and the wide lawn. As the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the venue combines classical orchestral evenings with major pop, rock and jazz concerts and ranks among the most popular open-air venues on the American East Coast. On warm summer evenings, when the music drifts across the park, the Mann Center offers a concert experience that unites nature and culture in a special way.
From its grounds in West Fairmount Park, the venue offers a view of the Philadelphia skyline.
