The Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti-Mirella Freni is the opera house of Modena and a landmark of the Italian vocal tradition. Opened in 1841, it now bears the names of two world stars born in Modena – the tenor Luciano Pavarotti and the soprano Mirella Freni – making the house a symbol of Modena as a "city of voices". The elegant neoclassical auditorium offers an intimate, acoustically prized atmosphere. As a teatro di tradizione, the Comunale cultivates the grand Italian repertoire and is committed to nurturing young talent. In the heart of an Emilia famous for culture and cuisine, it forms the musical centre of Modena.
