The Gran Teatro all'Aperto Giacomo Puccini is an open-air opera house in Torre del Lago in Tuscany, right on the shore of Lake Massaciuccoli – at the place where Giacomo Puccini lived, composed and is buried. Since 1930 it has hosted the Puccini Festival, the only festival dedicated exclusively to the work of the great opera composer. On warm summer nights his masterpieces – "La Bohème", "Tosca", "Madama Butterfly", "Turandot" – ring out beside the very lake that inspired many of Puccini's sounds. The modern open-air theatre thus unites a unique piece of music history with the atmosphere of the Tuscan landscape.
