The Teatro Coccia is the opera house of Novara in Piedmont, named after the composer Carlo Coccia, who worked long in the city. The present building opened in 1888 and ranks among the finest theatres in the region. Beyond cultivating the classical repertoire, the Coccia has built a reputation as a producing house that develops its own stagings and premieres and co-produces with other theatres. As a teatro di tradizione, it combines an ambitious opera and concert season with a strong commitment to contemporary music theatre and the cultivation of young talent. Set in the centre of Novara, it is the cultural heart of the city between Milan and Turin.
Opened in 1888, the house is known as a producing opera company for its own stagings and premieres.
