Tacoma Opera, founded in 1968, is a long-established regional opera company in the state of Washington and performs at venues around Tacoma, south of Seattle. Each season the company presents a compact programme of popular repertoire operas and occasional operetta and is engaged in nurturing local and regional singers. In the shadow of the large Seattle Opera, Tacoma Opera successfully maintains its own distinct profile as a provider of professional music theatre in the South Sound.
