The Metronom Theater in Oberhausen was opened in 2005 as part of the CentrO leisure complex in the northern Ruhr area and, with 1,800 seats, is one of the most modern musical theatres in Germany. Equipped with contemporary stage technology, hydraulically lowerable stage sections and excellent acoustics, the house was conceived for demanding large-scale productions. Here productions such as "Wicked", "Tarzan", "Dance of the Vampires", "Starlight Express" and currently "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" experienced their Ruhr-area premieres. With its central location between Cologne, Düsseldorf and Dortmund, the Metronom Theater has established itself as a cultural centre of the region and attracts audiences from all of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands.
The Stage Metronom Theater in the CentrO Oberhausen opened in 1999 and is part of the largest shopping and leisure centre in Europe — one of the largest musical stages in the Ruhr region.
