Shreveport Opera, founded in 1949, is the leading opera company in northwest Louisiana and performs mainly in the RiverView Theater in Shreveport. Alongside its traditional season, the company runs "Shreveport Opera Xpress", a professional touring ensemble of young singers that reaches schools and communities across the region with compact productions. Shreveport Opera thus combines grand repertoire with a strong educational mission and has been a fixture of cultural life on the Red River for more than seven decades.
