The Ronacher is one of Vienna's most tradition-rich entertainment theatres and today one of the two large musical stages of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. Built in 1888 as a magnificent establishment in the historicist style, it was long a famous variety theatre. After a comprehensive modernisation, the opulent auditorium shines again in its original splendour and hosts lavish musical productions through which Vienna affirms its reputation as a major musical metropolis in the German-speaking world. Set in the city centre, the Ronacher combines historic elegance with modern stage technology and draws a large international audience.
