Opera Omaha, founded in 1958, is the leading opera company of Nebraska and performs in the historic Orpheum Theater in Omaha. Alongside the classical repertoire, the company has made a name with its "ONE Festival" for contemporary opera, US premieres and cross-disciplinary projects that engage the whole life of the city. Opera Omaha thus combines traditional operatic grandeur with an emphatically contemporary, community-minded profile and is regarded as a surprisingly daring address in the Midwest.
