Opera Memphis, founded in 1956, is the opera company of the music city of Memphis, Tennessee. It became known far beyond the region for its "30 Days of Opera" format: in late summer, singers fan out across the whole city for free pop-up performances – in markets, squares and parks. Alongside this audience-focused outreach, Opera Memphis presents grand repertoire and new works. In the home of blues and soul, the company successfully holds its place for classical music theatre.
