Opera Maine, founded in 1995 and long known as PORTopera, is the leading opera company of the state of Maine. Its summer festival takes place in the magnificent Merrill Auditorium in Portland. The company presents grand repertoire in internationally cast productions and, through its Studio Artists programme, maintains a respected pathway for young singers. In the lively coastal city of Portland, Opera Maine is the central summer date for professional opera in the northeastern US.
