Opera Columbus, founded in 1981, is the opera company of Ohio's capital and performs in the historic Southern Theatre, one of the city's oldest surviving theatres. The company presents popular repertoire in accessible formats and has recently turned increasingly toward young singers, new voices and community-minded projects. In the growing cultural city of Columbus it is the central provider of professional opera, combining tradition with a fresh, audience-friendly approach.
