Lyric Opera of Kansas City, founded in 1958, is the region's leading opera company and since 2011 has performed in the acoustically acclaimed Muriel Kauffman Theatre at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. For decades the company was known for performing its entire repertoire in English to make opera accessible to a broad audience.
