Indianapolis Opera, founded in 1975, is the opera company of Indiana's capital. For many years Clowes Memorial Hall was its main venue; today the company is based at the Basile Opera Center, a dedicated home for performances and education. It presents popular repertoire in accessible formats and is strongly engaged in the region through education and outreach programmes. In Indianapolis's growing cultural landscape, the company is the central provider of professional opera.
