Finger Lakes Opera is a professional opera company in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Founded around 2010, it has become an established fixture of the area's musical life, presenting fully staged opera — traditionally in the summer season, when the region's lakes and renowned wineries draw many visitors. The company offers both popular repertoire and carefully cast productions, engaging emerging young singers alongside established voices. Performing in the Rochester area, Finger Lakes Opera combines professional music theatre with the special appeal of one of the most beautiful regions of the US Northeast, enriching the cultural landscape beyond the major metropolitan centers.
The namesake Finger Lakes are eleven narrow glacial lakes and rank among the most important wine-growing areas in the eastern United States.
