El Paso Opera, founded in 1992, is the professional opera company of El Paso in the far west of Texas – right on the border with Mexico. The company presents popular repertoire and is committed to works and programmes that reflect the city's bilingual, border-shaped culture. In the twin-city region of El Paso–Ciudad Juárez, El Paso Opera is the central point of reference for professional music theatre, combining classical operatic tradition with a markedly local, cross-border identity.
