The Diskothek is the venue of Schauspiel Leipzig devoted entirely to contemporary dramatic writing. In autumn 2017 it moved into newly built premises on the ground floor of the Schauspielhaus on the Innenstadtring (entrance Bosestraße/corner Dittrichring). As a variable black box it gives space to the most diverse aesthetic approaches and seats up to around 70. As a stage for world premieres, the Diskothek is an important platform for young authors: voices such as Wolfram Höll, Thomas Köck, Ferdinand Schmalz, Katja Brunner and Raphaela Bardutzky have presented their plays here. Diskothek productions are regularly invited to the major festivals for new drama, repeatedly to the Mülheim Theatre Days.
