Teatro Rialto

Madrid, Spain

The Teatro Rialto occupies the Edificio Rialto at Gran Vía 54, designed by the architects José Aragón and José María Mendoza Ussía. It opened as a cinema in 1930, was called Cine Astoria from 1932 to 1934 and became known as a premiere cinema, among others for El último cuplé starring Sara Montiel. Converted into a theatre with just over 1,000 seats, it is now run by ATG Entertainment, which stages musicals such as The Book of Mormon and Dear Evan Hansen (Querido Evan Hansen) there.
