The Teatro Coliseum occupies the ground floor of the Edificio Coliseum at Gran Vía 78, built from 1931 to 1933 by the architects Casto Fernández Shaw and Pedro Muguruza for the composer Jacinto Guerrero. The auditorium opened as a cinema on 10 December 1932 but was designed for theatre from the start and originally held about 1,540 seats. Today Stage Entertainment presents large musicals here, most recently Cinderella (Cenicienta) and El alma al aire.
