Teatro Politeama Greco

Lecce, Italy

The Teatro Politeama Greco is the most important theatre in Lecce, the city in the Salento famous for its exuberant Baroque. Opened in 1884, it is named after the Greco family who had it built. The spacious auditorium ranks among the largest in Apulia. As the central stage of the Salento, the Politeama offers a varied season of opera, concerts, dance and drama and draws audiences from across the region. Set in the historic centre of the "capital of the Baroque", it is a significant reference point in the cultural life of southern Apulia.
