The Teatro Grande is the opera house of Brescia and a jewel of Italian theatre architecture. Its origins reach back to the 17th century; the present sumptuous auditorium and the famous Rococo and Baroque foyer were created in the 18th and 19th centuries and rank among the most beautiful interiors in northern Italy. As a teatro di tradizione and part of the OperaLombardia network, the house offers an opera season drawn from the grand repertoire as well as concerts and dance. Set in the centre of the Lombard city – whose historic core is a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Teatro Grande unites magnificent architecture with a lively, widely noted programme.
Its Rococo foyer and auditorium rank among the most magnificent theatre interiors in northern Italy.
