The Teatro Galli is the opera house of Rimini on the Adriatic. Opened in 1857, it was inaugurated with Verdi's "Aroldo" – the composer was present at the premiere in person. In the Second World War the house was destroyed by bombing; after decades of reconstruction it was faithfully reopened in 2018 and has since shone again in its original neoclassical splendour. As a teatro di tradizione, the Galli offers a season of opera, concerts and dance. Set in the historic centre of the well-known coastal city, it is an impressive symbol of cultural reconstruction and the musical heart of Rimini.
