The Teatro Comunale Mario Del Monaco is the opera house of Treviso in the Veneto, named after the legendary tenor Mario Del Monaco, who lived long in the city. The historic house dates back to the early 19th century and reopened, thoroughly modernised, in the 2000s. As a teatro di tradizione, it cultivates the grand Italian operatic repertoire and offers a season of opera, dance and concerts. Set in the elegant, canal-laced city north of Venice, the Comunale is a central place of cultural life in the Veneto and keeps the region's great vocal tradition alive.
