The Teatro Comunale Claudio Abbado is the historic opera house of Ferrara, a UNESCO World Heritage Renaissance city. Opened in 1798, it ranks among the most elegant theatres in Emilia-Romagna. In 2014 it was named after the conductor Claudio Abbado, who maintained a close bond with the city and its concert series Ferrara Musica. As a teatro di tradizione, the house combines an ambitious opera and concert season with guest appearances by internationally renowned orchestras. Set in the heart of an old town shaped by Renaissance palaces, the Comunale forms the cultural heart of Ferrara and embodies the union of historic heritage and a living musical life.
Named in 2014 after conductor Claudio Abbado, closely tied to Ferrara and its Ferrara Musica series.
