Biography
Peter Weiss was born in 1916 in Nowawes near Berlin and emigrated in 1939 to Sweden. His play The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat (1964), known as Marat/Sade, became a worldwide success. With The Investigation (1965), a documentary play about the Auschwitz Trials, and The Aesthetics of Resistance, he created key works of political theatre. He died in 1982 in Stockholm.
