The Teatru Aurora is a grand opera house in Victoria (Rabat), the capital of the Maltese island of Gozo. It is run by the La Stella band club through the Aurora Leisure Club — civic societies that sustain a remarkably vibrant operatic tradition on Gozo. Opened in 1976, the theatre seats around 1,200 and ranks among the largest in Malta. Its centrepiece is a lavishly staged annual opera production each autumn, which regularly brings internationally sought-after soloists to Gozo and shapes the island's cultural life far and wide. The Teatru Aurora also serves as a stage for concerts, drama, film screenings, and community events. With its imposing façade on Republic Street, it is an architectural and cultural landmark of Victoria.
Although Gozo has only some 37,000 inhabitants, Victoria boasts two competing opera houses — the Teatru Aurora and its rival, the Teatru Astra.
