The Eugene O'Neill Theatre on West 49th Street in New York's Theatre District is one of the medium-sized Broadway houses with around 1,110 seats. Opened in 1925 as the Forrest Theatre, the house was renamed in 1959 in honour of the four-time Pulitzer Prize winner and Nobel laureate Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) — the most important American playwright of the twentieth century. The theatre has been showing Broadway hits in medium size for decades; hits like The Book of Mormon (2011-2024) ran here for 13 years. The house belongs to the Jujamcyn Theaters group, one of the most important Broadway theatre operators. Currently rotating new productions; the repertoire profile is traditionally broad with comedies, dramas, and musicals.
Named after the four-time Pulitzer Prize winner Eugene O'Neill. The Book of Mormon ran here from 2016 to 2019, currently hosting rotating hit productions.
