Biography
Hector Berlioz was born in 1803 in La Côte-Saint-André and was a visionary of orchestral music. His Symphonie fantastique revolutionised orchestral thinking, and Les Troyens is considered the peak of French Grand Opéra. Berlioz was also a brilliant music critic. His treatise on instrumentation influenced generations of composers. He died in 1869 in Paris.
