Biography
David Yazbek (born 1961) is an American composer, songwriter, and musician of Lebanese descent. After beginnings in television he turned to musical theatre and wrote the scores for The Full Monty (2000), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and above all The Band's Visit (2017), which won ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score. Yazbek's music is marked by stylistic variety and—in The Band's Visit—by the fusion of klezmer, Arabic, and Western music. He is regarded as one of the most original composers of the contemporary Broadway.
