Biography

Alejandro Sanz, born Alejandro Sánchez Pizarro in Madrid on 18 December 1968, is a Spanish singer and songwriter. His flamenco influenced ballads made him one of the most successful Spanish musicians, and the albums Más (1997) and El alma al aire (2000) brought his international breakthrough. His duet La tortura with Shakira (2005) also became widely known. He has won several Grammy Awards and many Latin Grammys. His songs form the score of the musical El alma al aire, with a book by Álvaro Tato, which Stage Entertainment opened at the Teatro Coliseum in Madrid in autumn 2026 as its first fully Spanish original production.
