Biography

Wolfram Lotz was born in Hamburg in 1981 and grew up in the Black Forest. He studied literature, art and media studies at the University of Konstanz and later creative writing at the German Literature Institute Leipzig. He gained recognition in 2011 with the plays "Der große Marsch" and "Einige Nachrichten an das All", receiving the Kleist Förderpreis for emerging playwrights for the former. His play "Die lächerliche Finsternis" (2014) won several awards, including the 2015 Nestroy Theatre Prize; in 2024 he received the Else Lasker-Schüler Drama Prize. Alongside plays, Lotz writes radio plays, poetry and prose.
