Biography
Udo Lindenberg (born 1946) is one of the most influential German rock musicians and a pioneer of German-language rock. Since the 1970s he has shaped the musical history of West Germany and of inner-German relations with hits such as Sonderzug nach Pankow and Cello. The jukebox musical Hinterm Horizont (2011), built on his songs, tells a love story between East and West in divided Berlin and became a major audience success at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz. Lindenberg's work combines rock music with political engagement.
