Biography
Scott Wittman (born 1954) is an American lyricist, director, and writer who works in a longstanding partnership with the composer Marc Shaiman. Together they wrote the Tony- and Grammy-winning songs for Hairspray (2002) and Some Like It Hot (2022), as well as songs for film and television, including Mary Poppins Returns. Wittman's pointed, allusive lyrics combine the glamour of classic Broadway with modern wit and are among the most ingenious in contemporary musical theatre.
