Biography
Saliha Shagasi is an Austrian theatre director and community artist who develops participatory theatre projects with young people in the JETZT! programme of Vienna's Burgtheater. Her work combines professional theatre direction with communal educational work, giving young people from migrant and marginalised communities access to professional stage work. Shagasi's productions are distinguished by a direct, often autobiographically tinged stage language that authentically reflects the experiences of young Viennese city residents. She stands for a new generation of Austrian theatre artists developing the Burgtheater into a more inclusive, socially relevant house.
