Biography
Phil Collins (born 1951) is a British drummer, singer, and songwriter, world-famous as frontman of Genesis and through his solo career with hits such as In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. For Disney he wrote the award-winning music for the animated film Tarzan (1999), whose song You'll Be in My Heart won him an Academy Award. The resulting stage version, Tarzan (2006), was a great audience success especially in the German-speaking world—for many years in Hamburg and Stuttgart. Collins combines catchy pop melody with percussive power and African-inspired rhythms.
