Biography
Penelope Skinner is a British playwright and screenwriter, born in 1978. Her debut “Fucked” opened at the Old Red Lion Theatre in London in 2008, followed by “Eigengrau” at the Bush Theatre in 2010. With “The Village Bike”, her first play at the Royal Court Theatre, she won the George Devine Award and the Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright in 2011. Further plays include “Fred's Diner” (Chichester, 2012), “Linda” (Royal Court, 2015), the climate drama “The Ruins of Civilization” (Manhattan Theatre Club, 2016), “Meek” (2018), “Angry Alan” (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 2018) and “Lyonesse”, which premiered in London's West End at the Harold Pinter Theatre in 2023. For television she wrote episodes of the Channel 4 series “Fresh Meat”, and for cinema she co-wrote the screenplay of “How I Live Now” (2013).
