Biography
Michael R. Jackson (born 1981) is an American composer, lyricist, and playwright—not to be confused with the pop star of the same name. For his musical A Strange Loop, on which he worked for over a decade, he won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2020 and the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2022. The strongly autobiographical, self-reflexive work is regarded as groundbreaking in its depiction of Black queer identity on Broadway. Jackson is among the most distinctive new voices in American musical theatre.
