Biography
Maury Yeston (born 1945) is an American composer, lyricist, and music theorist. He earned his doctorate at Yale, where he later taught music theory. In musical theatre he had a Tony-winning success with Nine (1982), after Fellini's film 8½, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical a second time with Titanic (1997). Yeston's work combines theoretical rigour with great melodic warmth; he is regarded as one of the most erudite and versatile composers of the contemporary Broadway.
